Electronic devices have taken over a major part of our daily lives. It may be their forms, size or features, it has one thing in common - they include flexible printed circuits.


 

A flexible printed circuit board (PCB flex, flex PCB or FPC) is a circuit technology that involves using a high-performance plastic substrate, such as polyimide. The flex circuits are often used as connectors in applications where mechanical torsion, saving space or production constraints limit the use of rigid circuits wired or manual wiring.

 

The flexible printed circuits represent an advanced and innovative approach to connecting electronic components. They are characterized by a medium between conventional circuit boards and beams.

Flexible printed circuits are used in applications requiring compact connections. The switching matrices computer keyboards or other compact electronic products such as digital cameras, PDAs, ... are a good example of mass application for flex circuits.
